Following chat on another thread and discussion at the recent VSRL Meeting it has been decided that a Sweep School will be held at Lorne on Sat 13th and Sun 14th of October.

This weekend will cater for all abilities, from absolute beginner to those who think they know everything.

We are also encouraging Sweeps to bring along their Crew's as it is believed that we can spend more quality time with both Sweep and Crew. Rowing Coaching will also be available.

This weekend is open to Sweeps and Crews from any State.

More information wil be out in due course.

Scott Tannahill
Course Coordinator.

Indeed it is.

More detailed info will be available mid August. Remember, we are now encouraging sweeps to bring their crew. If you don't have a crew, come anyway.

Cheers.... Scott T.

OK!

A formal circular will come out of LSV in the coming week however, the basic format will be as follows.

Dates: Sat 13th & Sun 14th Oct. Place: Lorne.

Presenters at this stage: Kim Marsh. Stephen Blewett. Scott Tannahill. More to come.

Attendee's are encouraged to arrive at Lorne SLSC Friday evening for an early start Saturday.

Sweeps are encouraged to bring their crews for the Saturday and or Sunday Morning sessions. We plan to offer Sweep and Rowing technique sessions. No problems if you can not bring a crew.

Cost: $10 per Sweep. No cost to Rowers. This weekend is subsidised by the ASRL thanks to the support of the NAVY.

Williamstown should have two crews and boats there for the Saturday.

Re: October Sweep School 7 months, 2 weeks ago #37902

I need to know how many need accomodation. All staying in club must have WORKING WITH CHILDREN approval and be members of clubs with their BRONZE medallion (welcolme to the world of SURFLIFESAVING. It was a very simple years ago and we still served the community) Also we will issue key tags but not to everyone.

G'day.

This week's Sweep School is shaping up as being a well attended gathering. Two weeks ago, we were looking at only six sweeps and cancelling the weekend, now we have fifteen and at least six crews.

Start time both days is 8am. We will give the stragglers until 8.30am, then get into it. I am expecting to have everyone ready to hit the water by 9am. For this to work, could I ask that everyone pitch in and help set up the boats to the north of the club, opposite the beachfront cafe. You would be well advised to bring plenty of warm clothing.

The morning will be spent on the water, followed by lunch (provided), then a review and presentation by Kim and Blewy.

Saturday will wind up around 4pm and Sunday midday.

There is bunkroom facilities in the club. Please advise via return email if you require a bed for yourself or crew.

The course cost is $10 which is applicable to Sweeps, not crews. Please pay this to myself prior to start.

Mentoring Sweeps will be Kim Marsh, Stephen Blewett, Matey Geurow and Myself.

Boat launching is to be via the beach ramp 400 metres North of the club house. Please see that your crew and others respect the local area and Surf Club facilities.

See you all Saturday.

Scott T.
