With many thanks to the NAVY and Mike Taylor Oars, we are pleased to announce the winners of the recent Navy-ASRL Facebook Competition!
"It was the Queenscliff carnival and the sweep was into us about the race and leaving nothing left in the race.
We were third, at the cans we turned last, & the sweep got into us about not rowing hard enough.
About 10 strokes out of the cans a rubber ducky came over to us & told us to get out of the taplin relay race!
After the race our sweep confessed he was colour blind and couldn't see which were our cans or the relay races."
James Shaw - David Shaw Seacliff SLSC
"In the 2009/2010 my sweep, David Shaw suffered an accident when our club's boat was picked up by a wave and dragged over his chest and head. Hospitalized for 3 months with 15 broken ribs, a punctured lung and a facial reconstructive surgery, David returned for the 2010/2011 season to sweep three crews at masters states picking up one gold and one silver medal, and one senior crew missing just missing out on the final. It is David's determination and commitment to his Club and his Crew's that makes him the best sweep in our Surf Club"
